Matt's Place Ride Report

Matt's Place always promises to be a favorite ride location and this time was no different. Ed Arnitz and John Reininga hosed a fantastic weekend. Friday started with great weather and a good sized crowd. The good neighbor policy was definitely in effect since we were sharing the football field this time with two other groups. By Friday afternoon/early evening we had about 25 trailers in camp and ended up with 30 by Saturday morning, 6 of them were new families! God continues to bless this group. The morning meeting brought everyone out to go over the days full agenda and beautiful weather followed. Ed and John had set up a trail for a bingo run where you picked up your cards on the trail and brought them back to camp with you for a bingo calling event reminiscent of the local senior centers. They even had one set up for the kids! Jack Rabbits was hosted by Michelle Peltzer and the little Rabbits colored cups and played various games set up by our loving volunteers. Robin Richter had the new ITD wears displayed and order forms on hand. If you didn't get to see it, check out the web site. Ed and John continued with the festivities by hosting lunch for everyone in camp. I heard of a few groups heading out to Randsburg for shakes after lunch and many others heading off in various directions to enjoy the perfect weather. Bingo calling was next with prizes for those lucky enough to get the right combo of numbers and letters. Thank you to Ed, John and Robin Richter for the prizes provided. The evenings fireside brought everyone together again to relive the days highlights, play Family Fued and sing worship songs. The nights talk was on how confession to each other will quench the guilt in our hearts. The after fire desert table continued to thrive with many people staying out to socialize and enjoy the delicious sweets. Sunday morning brought out the wind and kept a lot of us inside hoping for better weather. While many continued to ride on, half of the group began to pack it in and head for home. The other half, that's right 15 trailers, stayed on untill Monday and some untill Tuesday! Monday was as beautiful as Saturday and with a smaller group no planned activities, the rides were happening all over the place!

I would like to thank Ed, John, Michelle and Robin for all the work that was done this weekend. It truly does take a village to put on one of these weekends. I hope to see many of you this coming weekend at our "Out of the Dirt" activity and Thanksgiving Feast. I'm going to attempt to deep fry a turkey! (It may be pizza) If you have any pictures that you would like to share, Email Jess and jd.oconnell@gmail.com and she can help you get that on the web site.

I look forward to seeing you all in three weeks at Ocotillo North!

In His Service,
Dan O'Connell

P.S. Many of you have asked about Steve Colburn and his family. I have posted on the prayer message board the latest and greatest. Please continue to pray for the Colburn family as this is just the beginning. And as Steve put it " I WILL BEAT THIS!!!"
